I wrote an essay about a notorious gangster and an Atlanta urban legend about him for The Bitter Southerner. It muses a lot on the function of storytelling and the evolution of the city. I’m pretty proud of it and man, just look at it, it is gorgeous. Seeing BS’ aesthetic applied to my work is wholly satisfying.
The article is based on reporting I did for a feature that aired on WABE in April 2013, which later won an award from the Georgia Association of Broadcasters for Best Short Form Feature.
And all because someone made up some bullshit about Al Capone. Thanks Matt.
